I am convinced that together, we can not only
reenergize the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats (TCBD),
but transform it to an effective tool for voicing the concerns,
needs and expectations of the African-American community.
My vision is straightforward, we must:
- Develop and communicate a legislative agenda
- Serve as Precinct Chairs, County Chairs and SDEC members
to the TDP
- Identify and train qualified candidates
- Identify and train grassroots organizers and youth members
- Provide networking opportunities for TCBD members
Black Texans must build
a comprehensive legislative agenda focusing on family, education,
multigenerational health care, civil justice and the
development of African American economic power. We
must communicate our legislative agenda through issue awareness,
active participation in the Democratic Party, legislative
proposals and with a strengthened Black voter turnout. In
the process, we must bring emphasis to our cultural strengths
and rise above the pitfalls of cynicism.
Our communities are in dire need of a confident, proactive
and collective voice. You are that voice. The TCBD
has strong relationships with Democratic leadership around
the state and the passion to protect the interests of the
African-American community. We are the only statewide African-American
democratic organization and are recognized to sit on the
State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC).

African-American culture is one that is based on the moral
strength of our beliefs and the passion to succeed in the
face of adversity. We have a responsibility to engage
the political leadership of Texas and actively affect the
outcomes of elections.
It’s time to maximize the power of
our collective voice.
It’s time to scrutinize our state’s
political leaders and hold them accountable for their decisions.
It’s time to recruit and empower candidates
from the African-American community.
It’s time to invest in our own political
